Where to start?

First, check to see if your school or PTA/PTO has a “favorite things” page on their website or somewhere else. Many schools will ask teachers to fill out a page about their favorite candy, drinks, scents, flowers, restaurants, stores, etc. This is a great place to start because you know you’ll be getting your child’s teacher something they love!

If your school doesn’t do this already, consider sending your child’s teacher a brief email asking for a few of their favorites!

Hot Take: Don’t Sleep on Gift Cards

Listen, I know it’s not personal and it’s not as fun…but teachers love gift cards! If you don’t know their favorite places to shop or eat, Target and Amazon are great options! If you want to make the gift a little more personal, have your child make a nice card to go with it. Teachers love a good homemade card! You can also write a nice note letting them know how much you appreciate their hard work. Personally, a parent telling me they appreciate me is WAY better than getting a “#1 Teacher” mug.

If you’re not willing to go the gift card route, I totally understand. Here are 5 ideas gift ideas for your child’s teacher!

Gift Idea #1: Pens, Chart Markers, or Expo Markers

To the average human, this might sound like a super boring gift. To a teacher, this is a PERFECT gift! Most teachers LOVE a good pen or marker. Now, good is the key word here. See if your child notices the type of pens their teacher uses the most. If you’re not sure, here are some good options that teachers love!

Most teachers also love good chart marker. Since we use them all the time, they dry out quick! Having plenty of backups is always appreciated. Here are some chart markers teachers love.

If there’s one thing I know about teachers, it’s that we will use approximately 500 Expo markers a week. (Why do they dry up so fast?!) Teachers always appreciate a refresh to their Expo marker stash. And yes, it’s important to get Expo brand…other brands dry up even faster!

Gift Idea #2: Stationary or Post-It Notes

Teachers are constantly writing things down. To do lists, reminders, eerything. Having some cute stationary for writing down ALL THE THINGS makes it a little more fun! Here are some options I love! Post-it notes are also perfect for jotting down quick reminders or notes to students.

Gift Idea #3: Insulated Water Bottle

Teachers barely have time to go to the bathroom during their breaks, let alone fill up their water bottle a million times. A nice, big water bottle that keeps water cold is a MUST to stay hydrated! Here are some tried and true teacher favorites.

Gift Idea #4: Insulated Mug

Most teachers enjoy some type of warm beverage in the morning (probably coffee…but some crazies out there like tea instead). The tricky part is drinking said warm beverage before it gets cold! With all of the little things teachers need to manage every day, remembering to drink their coffee can fall to the wayside. Having a nice insulated mug that keeps your beverage warm is a game changer!

If you’re feeling really fancy, you can gift your child’s teacher a mug that keeps their beverage at the perfect temperature!

Gift Idea #5: Label Maker

Teachers like things labeled. It’s just the way it is! Your child’s teacher will love a quick easy way to label anything and everything in the classroom!

At the end of the day, your child’s teacher will love whatever you get them! As I mentioned before, a nice note can go a looooooong way. Don’t feel like you need to spend tons of money to show your appreciation. If you do want to spend a little on your child’s teacher, I hope this list was helpful!
